Radio Silence
HEAR :  Gretta Ray

did I hurt you that bad, babe? / did I really mess this up? / swear I intended to tread lightly / but still, I woke the beast in you / see, I was hoping to save us / I pointed out the dark clouds / but you ran into the rain anyway / and now there's no way out

If you win JJJ’s Unearthed High at aged 16, there’s an expectation to deliver something special musically for the rest of your life – no pressure!
Gretta Ray released an EP after winning Unearthed High in 2016, and then got caught up in the crazy pace of writing, touring and recording.
Last year she took a year off to enjoy being a teenager, and now at 20, she’s back in the spotlight after releasing her second EP, Here and Now.
It’s a gorgeous selection of lush tunes that feature her distinctive voice and amazing range, with lyrics that take you back to first loves and broken hearts.

TASTE :

If you’ve been around the Bohle and got a hunger pang, chances are you headed straight to The Chuck Wagon.
First operating as a mobile truck, their 4.30am opening time meant they’ve been a one-stop shop for tradies and truckies, and once the general public got wind of their award-winning pies, pastries, coffees and more, they’ve been flat chat.

Earlier this year they added a deck, with outdoor counters and stools, and now they’ve brought their award-winning pies and other café goodies to a new location on the other side of town, the former Rock, Paper Scissors and The Cheesecake Shop at 152 Charters Towers Road, Hyde Park.

It’s a drive-thru or you can go inside, either way, there’s nowhere too far from an awesome pie now there’s two Chuck Wagons in town!
You can check out their facebook page here, or better still, call in and see for yourself!

WEAR  : Hey, frillseekers

Just when you thought nothing new could be done to hemlines, say hello to the frill!
We're seeing skirts and dresses edged in a flirty ruffle, and our current fave is Bardot's super cute number, the Fae dress.
It looks like a skirt and cami but is a gorgeous lustworthy piece of frockery gorgeousness that ticks all the frock boxes – it’s fitted, it's lacey, and has a textured boho vibe.
It’s rrp $149.99 and available at Bardot Stockland now – details here,
or you can get it online here...

TRY : GHD

If you’re a hair straightening addict you’ll love the new platinum+ hair straightener from ghd. The platinum + has got some serious smarts - it recognises the thickness of hair, the section size, and adjusts the power to suit.
This means thicker sections of hair get the most heat, while ends get less, with infinity sensors monitoring the heat 250 times per second to maintain a safe temperature.
No more damaged ends, and a quick 20 second heat up time means your hair is the winner.
It’s available from ghd-approved salons and Hairhouse Warehouse from September 1, rrp $340, see the range HERE

BUY : TICK TOCK

It’s Father’s Day on Sunday, so if you’re looking for a last minute gift you can’t go past a Nixon watch.
We’re obsessed with the Corporal SS model in matte black/sage, it’s rugged and functional, the dial includes military inspired bold printed indices and numbers, a printed seconds track and custom moulded hands with luminous fill for night time visibility.
Available in 15 colour variations, it’s RRP $299.99 and you can get a great range at Skin Ski & Surf in Flinders Street or Salt 66 at Castletown.

GO :  Open Army

Head to Lavarack Barracks this Sunday September 1 for the 2018 Open Day and Trail Run.
There’ll be military displays, vehicle rides in Bushmasters and you can get up close and check out a chopper.
There’s amusements, food and drink, and the 1RAR Band will be playing, and best of all, you can play unlimited games of Laser Skirmish, Bubble Soccer and Archery Combat!
Gates open for trail runners at 0545am, the general public can get in on the action from 0800am, it’s a gold coin donation for entry with all proceeds going to Townsville Legacy, an awespme cause that supports families of Veterans.
